Pre-Teen | Teenagers

No one said growing up was easy - especially when our emotional development, intellectual development, and social development is not yet fully formed. Trying to figure out who we are, while a life long process, is entirely emphasized throughout middle and high school. What a sham! Navigating the social norms, viral trends, and piling expectations of parents, teachers, coaches, friends, etc. can be exhausting and incredibly anxiety provoking

How I can Help:

I value taking a practical, laidback, and realistic approach with the teens I work with. Throughout the first several sessions, I focus on building a trusting relationship to allow for perceived awkwardness of talking to a therapist to subside. I provide support for whatever topics are brought to session and I encourage full expression of the self. To model these behaviors, I show up as my authentic self and present with genuine interest and curiosity to each session. In my experience, I find that modeling positive behaviors to teens is the most effective way of teaching skills in real life application. The skills I teach have been derived from a plethora of trainings I have undergone including DBT, Nurturing Parenting, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy; as well my own experiences as a teen.
