Borderline Personality Disorder

Everything we experience in life teaches us what to expect the next time the same or similar thing happens. In response, our mind develops responses to those events. Each time those responses are enacted, they are reinforced causing greater strength as our defense mechanisms. Although they protect us at the moment, they generally pose issues for our interpersonal relationships, including our friends, families and co-workers. Often times, these issues leave us feeling misunderstood, isolated, and wondering why we overreacted...again.

Trusting a new person with your most vulnerable thoughts and beliefs can be terrifying. My goal is to provide a safe, stable and trusting place where you feel comfortable sharing vulnerable thoughts and beliefs that lead to harmful behaviors.

I will join with you to determine the best alternative actions and create a future plan you are confident implementing.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT):

In my work with women who fall on the spectrum of Borderline Personality Disorder, I have observed massive success in utilizing Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). This treatment modality encourages development in the skills of Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Interpersonal Effectiveness, and Distress Tolerance. I have years of experience teaching DBT groups and I bring that experience with me to individual sessions. Together, we will work through the skills AND learn how to apply them when and where they are necessary. Below, I have included a video to provide deeper understanding of DBT and its effectiveness.
